RTG Colloquium talk by Prof. Dr. Jan Gerrit Korvink: Miniature scale NMR - technology, simulation and applications

Institute of Microstructure Technology, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany

Nov 21, 2019 from 04:45 PM to 06:00 PM

In this talk I will describe my group’s recent contributions in using MEMS technolo-gy to open a window of opportunity in NMR and MRI. NMR is arguably the most specific (bio)chemical detection method, non-ionising, and can be completely non-invasive. Because NMR detection potentially improves through miniaturization, but signals are extraordinarily weak, special care must be taken to address the entire signal chain (sample-detection-signal processing). Applications are taken from metabolomics to brain research.
